


MEET THE ARTIST
Jadyn Erryl Bright (Otton) is an Iñupiaq who was born and raised in Nome, Alaska. Her parents are Darrin and Sherry Otton. Her grandparents are Laura and Robert Evans and Henry and Mary Otton. Her Iñupiaq name is Azragayaak (Agak) and she was named after her great uncle Davis Sockpick of Shishmaref, AK. She started creating art in 2017 after taking Alvin Amason’s Alaska Native Art Classes through the University of Alaska Anchorage. She spent 3 years taking his classes, learning many skills such as hoop bending, mask making, and ivory/bone/baleen carving.Jadyn’s mediums of art include painting, mask making, and jewelry making. Her style of art is traditional with a modern twist. Her inspirations are her ancestors, traditional values, the land, animals, and iñupiaq language.

MATERIALS
Natural materials used are all locally sourced or gathered from the Bering Sea land in the Norton Sound Region.
